About the Charity

BUMBLEance

Making Positive Life Impacts For Sick Children

BUMBLEance is the worlds 1st Interactive Children’s Ambulance & most technologically advanced Ambulance on the planet.

Launched on 6th September 2013, BUMBLEance is a project of
The Saoirse Foundation
 – a registered non-profit charity dedicated to making positive life impacts for sick children.

The charity was founded by Tony and Mary Heffernan in 2010 after their daughter, Saoirse, was diagnosed with Batten Disease – a rare and fatal neurological condition.

Saoirse tragically grew her Angel wings on Jan 18th 2011, at the tender age of 5 years, 7 months and 14 days in her parents arms.

In 2014, also just 5 year’s old, Saoirse’s brother Liam was the first-ever patient to travel on board BUMBLEance as he travelled home from hospital for the last time on his Angel Trip

About Us

We wanted to do something at scale for BUMBLEance, so a cycle from the Derry Sperrins to Kerry Reeks for our group of (very amateur) cyclists is a wonderful cross-border challenge, reflecting the BUMBLEance expansion and connecting towns close to the heart of the charity.
